If this happens, it’s probably because you have shares registered in two accounts with slightly different details. Sometimes, if shares are acquired at different times, the registration details given to the Company’s Registrar might differ slightly (e.g. Mr John S. Other or Mr John Smith Other). This can lead to the Registrar opening two shareholder accounts for the same person, with separate dividend cheques being issued for each account and duplicate copies being sent of shareholder communications such as the Annual Report.
